One of the most popular designs for tattoos is the cross or rosary. An enduring symbol of faith, the rosary has been associated with tattoos from the earliest photographs of Western traditional tattoos. Recently people have been finding novel places to ink this classic design, including on the top of the foot. Particularly with the rosary design, this placement allows a flowing bracelet style pattern to be placed tastefully around the ankle while leaving a nice area on the top of the foot for the cross itself. Below are a few examples of this tattoo that I’ve inked recently.

This Cross features a very Gothic feel with simple beads done as small as possible around the ankle:

Finally, one can certainly add color or Celtic Elements to a cross design. This customer wanted a very Irish Celtic Cross on her foot. Here’s what we came up with:
