We’re all mad here! Wait, I mean, we’re all artists….

We are a studio full of artists, and even our front desk team fits that description.  It is great to have such a creative team to work around.

K Lenore Siner is a self taught painter with formal training in 3D Fine Art from the Massachusetts College of Art. She paints using a variety of mediums including oils, wax, resin, paper, ash and herbs.  Here are some of her currently available giclee prints, which can be purchased through her Etsy, etsy.com/shop/KLenoreSinerArt:

Theresa Wall Duggan is a photographer and digital artist, and creates imagery inspired by classical painting styles as well as fashion inspired portraits.  Check out her Etsy shop here: etsy.com/shop/Artanddiscordstudios.  Here are some of her currently available prints:

Dog Portrait by Steve

Who says there’s an age cap on getting your first tattoo? This client was incredibly fun, describing her dog Dempsey as the “love of her life.” A pet portrait is a great first tattoo, and oh, and did we mention that the client is 70 years old? And definitely one of the most energetic and healthy 70 year olds that we’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting.

New & Older Works from Sharonn

This all-seeing eye took two sessions, and is a fairly large piece on a client’s back.

This back piece is ongoing, and looking quite marvelous! This photo doesn’t do it justice.

These portraits were done by Sharonn before she came to Witch City Ink, and we love them so much that we had to share.

A recent grim reaper that is also a coverup. It’s like celebrating the death of an old tattoo with death himself!

Sharonn is currently booked a couple of weeks out, so we recommend scheduling time with her in advance! She prefers to take consults before starting new pieces, so give us a call! 978.744.9393

Welcome, Sharonn!

We have been excited to share some news with you, and finally, the day has come! We are pleased to welcome Sharonn Bradbury to Witch City Ink! She is no stranger, having been a friend of Natan’s for some time, and we are thrilled to have her here in Salem with us.

We’ll have a bio up for her soon, but for now, we will tell you that she has been tattooing since 1994, and she is already making her space here cozy and beautiful. Here is a peek at the very beginning of it (you should see it now that it’s getting decorated!).

And of course, here are some examples of her work. You can find many more over on her portfolio page.

Sharonn officially starts tattooing here next week, and is at the shop Tuesday-Saturday (please note: her Saturdays are currently reserved for existing clients). Give us a call if you would like to set something up with her! 978.744.9393

Natan: Progressions

As usual, Natan has a ton of gorgeous in-progress pieces going on. One of the larger ones is a bright full backpiece on a very boisterous individual named Tony (if you’ve met him, you’ll know who we’re talking about by that short description alone). Since it is such a large and epic work, we’re not going to show you much of it right now, but this is what it was looking like at the end of his last session. He was lying down in this picture, so please forgive the odd angle:

Then there is Jon, who is in the beginning stages of a full sleeve that extends onto his chest. He and Natan came up with a very unique concept to include portraits of his wife and children, as well as a dragon. That might sound like an odd combination, and we don’t want to give too much away yet, but it’s all going to tie together beautifully. Here is the last portrait that Natan added to the piece:

You may remember this post featuring the first of Ted’s dia de los muertos girls. Natan added a second beauty to the piece earlier this week. This one is also going to be a coverup, as you can see in the photo.

Just a couple of reminders: Natan is currently booked through early January at this point, so if you want him to get started on your next tattoo, be sure to schedule a consult soon so we can get the ball rolling!

Secondly, we continue to have gift certificates available, and Christmas is only a couple of weeks away! If you need one mailed to you, we recommend giving us a call by early next week, to ensure that it gets to you in time for the holiday. 978.744.9393

Dia de los Muertos

Every so often we get a client that trusts us enough to give us a larger-than-usual amount of artistic license. Ted is one of those clients. He gave Natan a few ideas, and ended up with a gorgeous Day of the Dead woman on his arm. It hurt, but he was all smiles when he left the shop last night.

In less exciting news, there will be some road closures and parking bans in downtown Salem this Thursday, October 6th, and over the weekend, October 8th and 9th. This does not mean that Witch City Ink will be inaccessible, but parking will be a little less fun than usual. Click here for a list of streets that will be closed, along with the specific times.

Color Portrait by Natan

Every so often we get a client that has a heartbreaking story behind their tattoo idea. It’s flattering when anyone chooses us to put something so permanent on their body, but especially so when it is an image that they hold dear. Natan did a wonderful job on this portrait, and the client loved it. Forgive us for not sharing the story with you, but some things aren’t ours to tell. Let’s just say that there’s a lot of love in this.

Some Black and Grey by Natan

I know it seems like we’ve been blogging about everyone but Natan these days. This does not mean that he’s been tattooing less — in fact, he’s busier than ever as of late. Quite a few of his recent pieces are larger and spanning multiple sessions, so we can’t share those with you yet, but trust us when we say they’re worth the wait. His “smaller” pieces are coming out beautifully as well, and we’re excited to share these two with you today.

The first is an eagle on an extremely tough guy’s ribcage/side. He sat for hours without complaint, and then was kind enough to pay Natan a visit so he could take photos after the tattoo had healed a bit.

Second is a portrait of a lovely young lady, done on her father. Now that’s parental pride right there. She didn’t know this was being done, and we wish we could be there to witness her reaction!

Natan has very limited appointments available between now and the end of October, but we are always more than happy to set up a consult for you to get your next piece started as soon as possible! Give us a call any time: 978.744.9393

Portrait Of Mother and Grandfather by N^T^N

Portrait tattoos are a very powerful way to preserve the memory of a loved one forever. Michael Bragan of Salem Massachusetts came into Witch City Ink with a picture of his Mother kissing his Grandfather on her wedding day. He was looking to get a portrait tattoo done, and he chose Natan to do the portrait because he liked some of the other portraits in his portfolio.  His Grandfather had passed away on December 27th of 2007, and Michael felt this would be the best way to honor his grandfather.

In Michael’s words: “I chose this picture because it is my mother’s favorite of the two together and from what I can remember this was the happiest I ever saw him. The smile on his face was priceless!”

Below are the images of the picture Michael brought in, the stencil Natan made of the picture, and the final tattoo.

Natan writes, “Portrait tattoos are always a joy to do because people are so thrilled when you get it perfect. A tattoo of a loved one is a great way to keep them forever in your thoughts. When people bring in their favorite picture of a someone its up to you to really capture not only their likeness but also their spirit. There’s always a great story behind it and its some of the most challenging yet rewarding work you can do.”
