New Work by Molly: Swallow on Neck!

A couple weeks back Molly tattooed this swallow on the neck of one of her regular clients. This piece was a perfect match for Molly, as she’s always glad to have the chance to draw up animal-related tattoos in her illustrative style that she’s cultivated over the years. Molly specifically tailored the composition of this tattoo so as to mimic the natural flow of the anatomy and work in a congruous manner with the structure of the neck. Molly is currently booking out for custom work, especially in an illustrative or animal-themed direction.

New Work by Molly: Angel/Demon Backpiece

Molly just finished up this black and grey angel and demon back piece the other week. Molly comes from a strong figure-drawing background and put in a lot of leg-work on the drawing for this piece. After numerous anatomical studies and sketches, Molly got her drawing finalized and tattooed it all in there. Molly’s always a champ with any black and grey work, figurative pieces, or anything illustrative so make sure to give us a call if you have any custom projects in mind for her!

Fetal Skeleton Tattoo by Molly!

Everyone here at the shop relishes the opportunity to work on any project involving skulls. Call us predictable (seeing as how we are in the middle of Salem), but nothing beats a good skull tattoo! However, Molly recently discovered that the only thing cooler than skeleton tattoos are black and grey, conjoined-twin, fetal skeleton tattoos! The Irish have always been proud to show their heritage in the form of skin art. The most popular image tends to be a shamrock, or a clover. My client Steve choose to support his roots with another time-honored symbol of the Irish; the harp. Unless you are familiar with the Guinness draft logo, or the Irish in general it may come as a surprise that the image of the harp is the symbol of the Emerald Island. He brought in a photo of a real harp he printed off the internet, but requested I draw it up in a more traditional style.

This is a tattoo I recently did of an Egyptian style scarab. This was the customer’s first tattoo and she wanted to make it count. A common occurrence in tattooing is taking a concept or image you have tattooed before and reinventing it for another customer who has come in with the same request.

Here is an example of a customer who was an executive chef who wished to express his love of his favorite food; pork. He came in with the idea that he wanted an image of a flying pig with the indicating butcher marks. I myself being a fan of animal tattoos, and pork we hit it off pretty well and came up with this finished product.

Several months later a local Salem baker/ pork enthusiast came in looking to get a tattoo of a pig also with the indicating butcher marks. He wanted the style of the tattoo to look like it was done with a printing press. This style was achieved by drawing multiple series of lines vaguely indicating shadow.

Both of these tattoos were the same concept but the end results couldn’t have been more different. The chance of someone having the same tattoo idea as you is very strong if not inevitable. Luckily there is more then one way to do a tattoo.
